LGBTQIA+ Friendly

Portland has a strong queer community and a long history of progressive policy in support of its LGBTQIA+ residents. In 2008, Portland elected the first openly gay mayor of any major city, and in 2012, Oregon elected the nation’s first openly bisexual governor.

There is no shortage of ways to find community in Portland with hundreds of LGBTQIA+-owned businesses and a wide array of activities like drag performances, dances, sports, fitness, and of course, Portland’s pride festival.
