Buying a House in Portland!

In Portland’s competitive market, you need a tireless champion on your side that will develop a winning strategy to find you a home that you love.

Whether it takes a weekend or several years, I’m in it for the long haul. Nothing matches the feeling of getting keys to your new home on closing day. For many, closing day represents the realization of a dream, the end result of years of hard work, and the beginning of a bright new chapter.

A Quick Look at the Buying Process

Get Pre-Approved

It all begins with getting pre-approved unless you’re paying cash. Getting a pre-approval allows us to know what price range in which we can comfortably shop and to submit offers quickly if needed.

House Hunting

We’ll go over your wants and needs and we’ll come up with a plan to get you into your dream home. I will set you up on a search that will send you homes that match your criteria, but will also manually search and keep my eyes open for off-market deals.

Negotiating a Deal

Once you find a place that you love, we’ll get to work crafting the perfect offer that will get you the home but preserve as much of your negotiating power as possible.

Completing Inspections

Depending on the age and type of home that we have under contract, I’ll recommend a number of inspections that will ensure you have the full picture of what is going on with a property so you can make educated decisions about moving forward.

Repairs and Negotiations

Once we’ve completed inspections, it’s time to negotiate! Depending on what shows up in an inspection report, we’ll prioritize your concerns and either ask a seller to complete repairs or ask for a credit so that you can do the repairs after closing.

Appraisal

The last step prior to closing for deals that are financed is the appraisal. The appraisal is the bank’s way of determining that the sale price is reasonable for your home. If the house appraises at or above the sale price, we’re cruising to close!

Closing and Possession

All of your hard work has paid off and it’s time to wrap things up. You’ll often sign closing documents a day or more prior to the actual closing day. On closing day, once we get the all clear from the title company, we’ll meet to hand of the keys to your brand spanking new home.

After Closing

After all the dust has settled and you’ve moved into your new home, know that you can reach out to me anytime for contractor recommendations, DIY advice, help navigating your new city, and tips to add value to your investment.
